4 Months Old

Well, Logan is now 4 months old! It is so hard for me to believe because time is just flying by. I have absolutely loved watching her grow and she seems to being doing something new everyday now. Her favorite things to do during the day are the following (in no particular order): eating (no surprise here), watching mommy blow dry her hair, checking out whatever Murphy is doing, looking at the ceiling fans, and watching fishing shows with daddy. She is so happy now we just can't get enough of her smiles. At her 4 month checkup this week she weighed in at 11 pounds 3 ounces (7th percentile) and was 24 inches long (57th percentile). So, she is basically tall and skinny just like her daddy.

This was really cute. Our little one thinks she can read already. She got this book in the mail this week, so I was just showing it to her when she grabbed on and wanted to hold it by herself. So, I just let "little miss independent" have her way. I thought it was too cute so I had to take these photos.

As for the remaining photographs...Brian was off on Wednesday and it was 78 degrees here so we decided to take Logan on her first fishing trip. (This is basically where Brian and Murphy go fishing along a little creek and Logan and I hang out on the bank). In order to get her ready for her first big outside outing she had to pull out her shades and hat.

She really was great while we were out there. She hung out in the carseat and just smiled and stuck her tounge out at me for awhile...

We had a fun time watching Brian. On his very first cast the lure (spelling???) got stuck on a tree. He of course didn't want to lose his $2 tackle so he decided to wade into the cold water after it. I of course had to get a few shots of this. He ended up getting wet almost up to his waist and didn't even get the lure. At least he put on a good show for Logan and me.

I of course made Brian take a picture of the girls ...

This last picture was after both Brian and Logan were all cleaned up and relaxing on the couch together. Brian was worn out from all those fish he missed (more likely from working the night shift for the six days prior). See...tall and skinny just like her daddy!

Anyway, it was a pretty exciting week. I just love all the new memories we are making!!!

Don't like the "Cry-Out" Method

Well, apparently not all aspects of parenthood are fun and amazing. Logan no longer has to eat throughout the night, but most nights here lately she has been crying in her sleep in need of being consoled. So, Brian and I figured that Logan just has yet learn to truly self-soothe herself. We decided that it was time to give the old "cry-out" method a try. It of course is absolutely miserable to sit there and listen to your baby cry and to not go and hold her. I hate it, but I actually think it is working. We have been trying it now for the past 4 days. She has actually continually been sleeping through the entire night now - so that in itself should make it all worthwhile. I know most parents have to deal with this, but that somehow doesn't make it any easier for me. Hearing her cry just breaks my heart and when I go up to pat on her every ten minutes I hate seeing the huge tears running down her face and when she grabs my hands to hold me there it is so hard to leave her there crying. I know it is important for her to learn to fall asleep on her own, I just wish there was an easier way to do it! Just so you can see what my poor little one looks like when she is upset - I took a picture of her this last week when she was throwing a fit. This way you can all see that she is not always the perfect little smiling angel that you see pictures of on this blog.

On the funny side...here is a picture that I just had to take of her. I was carrying her on my shoulder up the stairs for her bath one morning and heard the burp. When I laid her down to get her ready, she somehow managed to have the spit-up spread all over her face. Gross, but funny.

Anyway - here are just a couple other pictures that I like as well...

Yes, I know I take a lot of pictures - but what else have I got to do?!?!?
