What would you do for a gumball????

I don't know about you, but there really isn't much that I will do for a gumball. Fortunately that isn't the case for Logan...it was the bribe that finally got her to pee pee in the potty! Yes she finally did it! She has actually been sitting on the toilet for months now and loves doing just that. However, she never actually put it to use. I would tell her to push and it would crack me up because she would sit there and toot. :) So, I know she was trying. Anyway - two nights ago she actually did it and all for that gumball incentive! She did it again last night right before her bath. Now make no mistake, we are nowhere near being potty-trained but this is definitely a step in the right direction. Logan we are so proud of you!!! Great job!

If you can't find a Leprechaun at the end of the rainbow...make one!

Logan and I didn't have to wrack our brains too hard to think of a craft to hang from our chandelier for the month of March. With St. Patrick's Day this month it was pretty much between 4 leaf clovers and leprechauns...so we decided to go with the leprechauns and they turned out so cute. This is yet another simple craft to do and I already had all the supplies, which makes it a cheap one too!

To start you will need paper plates, green/black/gold construction paper, markers/crayons, scissors, and glue.
We started by coloring the faces on the plates, be sure to color a nice full beard.
Next, use your scissors to cut little slits all through the beard to give it a little flare.
It's encouraging to have someone cheering you on...
Next, cut out the hats from the green construction paper along with the black strips and gold squares to decorate the hat. Glue the embellishments onto the hat.
Finally, glue the hat onto the paper plate face.
Voila! You have an adorable paper plate leprechaun!
As usual we like to decorate above our kitchen table and leave them up all month.
Logan gets so excited to climb on the table and show of her art work...she still constantly reminds me - "look mommy, Yogi makes that!"

A date with mommy.

I decided that Logan was in need of a little fun time out with mommy. So, we went out to lunch for pizza this Saturday (we let daddy and sissy tag along). Then I took her to see her very first movie at a theater. Tangled was still playing so we went to an afternoon showing and she absolutely loved it. She got a children's tub of popcorn (which she ate all of), a sprite to drink, and fruit snacks. She sat through the entire movie just mesmerized, it was hilarious. We had a great time and will definitely be doing it again.
Enjoying our pizza.
She can't take her eyes of the screen, or her lips off her very first sprite. Just being silly for the camera.
And cheesing it up.
Our wonderful amazing little 2 year old!

13 months old today and...

...she finally took her first steps!! Our little Leighton figured out that walking is actually pretty fun. I wouldn't say she is a walker by any means but at least she took a few steps. She actually went back and forth between Brian and I many times and loved that we made such a big deal out of it. Brian was thrilled that he was actually here to witness the first steps too. Other fun facts about our little 13 month old:
  • 22 pounds (60th percentile)
  • 30 inches tall (70th percentile)
  • 47 cm head (90th percentile) - big head is a Cross family trait :)
  • She says the following words - mama, dada, yight (light), bye bye, Murr (Murphy), eeers (cheers), muh muh (milk), nana (banana), bank (blanket), and uh uh for everything else.
  • She can sign for milk and more.
  • Her preferential means of getting around is walking on her knees.
  • She is an amazing eater. The only two things I have tried to give her that she doesn't eat are broccoli and turkey lunch meat.
  • She has started feeding herself with a fork and spoon (we have to put the food on the silverware but she puts it in her mouth).
  • She adores Logan and Murphy and enjoys watching them do just about anything.

Leighton is such a laid back little girl and we love watching her learn and grow. Below is the video from tonight...we actually caught some of her first steps!
